It would be presumptuous for me to attempt any sort of definitive report on "Ancient Egypt" on the basis of a 10-day guided tour. Also it would be redundant: many such trip reports exist on the World Wide Web and many others contain academic discussions about life and thought, belief and government, architercture and history, in the time of the pharaohs. What, then, am I doing here and now?

These pages represent an ordering of my own visual memories and some reflection about them. In another time I might have kept a journal to attach inside the cover of a photo album with "My Trip to Egypt" hand-printed on it. Or I might have taken slide photos. But today I use a digital camera and HTML to place pictures and comments on the web in the hope that some others might find them interesting and (in a few instances perhaps?) edifying. -- Allan Brockway
